An alternative option - If you weren't happy with the stock location/angle of OEM bars, now would be a perfect time to try different handle bars.  When you say "stripped" do you mean you have rounded the hexagon drive or actually stripped the thread?  :027:

Just use a hack saw at the end of the bar where the space is.

the bar end is recessed and sit around the end of the handlebar  :028:

I mean the hexagon is now rounded.

I haven't had a chance to work on it. It's stored at my sister's place so I only have time on weekends. I might be able to work on it on Wednesday.
