Changing color of instrument cluster?
« on: August 12, 2019, 05:10:34 AM »
Is it feasible to change the backlight color of the instrument cluster? So that instead of white-on-black it's red-on-black, etc.

I actually saw on YouTube a method where you get some polarizing membrane and fit it to the surface of the screen itself (underneath the plastic cover). It does just what you describe. I think it was done on the mt-09. I don't know how it would work with our gold numbers.
I'll try and find it and post it up.

Here it is.
The mt09 is relatively easy due to the straight lines. Ours is round but if there is a film that peels off then maybe not so bad. But ours may turn out bad if it isn't the same as the mt09.
Who wants to go first?

Don't ask me, ask logik.  :164:
Troof be told I ain't crazy about the cluster on this bike. It's hideous. I try not to look at it. But then when when I DO look at it it's to see if I can figure out a way to make it look less hideous. Then soon enough it's hideousness gets to me and I have to look away again.
It just a viscous cycle, I'll never figure it out.  :087:

Agree

Itd be great to find a TFT screen to replace the ugly Z900 cluster

Stay upright!

I'm with you.
I like the old analog tach and speedo but some of these new color screens are beautiful and you can adjust what type of layout you want to look at.
I've checked with Koso but they don't have a plug and play for the z900. But they do for the Grom I think  :138:.
Maybe if enough of us email them about it they'll come up with something.
