In my opinion, its an unfortunate accident where both parties are to be blamed. Here's my 2 cents..

1. Going fast when you can see far enough, to stop in case of an emergency is fine. (We have all done speeds above the limit)
But our man on the Z was coming in too hot. He did see the 2 riders on the side of the road after which he did roll off the throttle, but he was too fast to slow down.
Maybe he prioritized not hitting the 2 riders and as a result ended up sacrificing his own ride in the process.

2. The fact that there were tall vegetation on the right side of the road meant that the 2 riders making the U turn could not have seen him coming.

3. The 2 riders making the U-turn were on supersport bikes. Making quick U Turns is not really easy on one of those. They also have ridiculous turning radius.

4. A louder pipe on the Z could have alerted the 2 riders of an incoming bike. Loud pipes do save lives.

5. Lastly the 2 riders making the U turn should have chosen a straight road with clear visibility of on coming traffic to make their turn. To be fair to our man on the Z, they did make an unsafe U-Turn

He has a full Akra line forget the loud pipe save lives in this situation lol

Problem is, loud pipes dont really save lives as youll hear it more from behind than in front. Also consider that the 2 riders turning around might have ear plugs in under their helmets. I do agree it wasnt the best choice of spot to turn around though.

My riding buddies say they can hear me coming from 2 blocks away...

I assure you one can hear a screaming inline 4 from atleast 200m away.. Cops in my city certainly can   :015:

Those canyons are inundated with speeding motorcycles. Anybody riding there knows it. The ironic part is, those two riders probably were riding the same speeds earlier. Every sportbiker on those canyons does.
I worry more about the bicyclists.
Don is a confident and capable rider. I don't think he'll make that mistake again.

He has posted a new video recently. I think the bike is mostly fixed. There is also a story about the repair - used forks, fairings and some other parts I believe.
