Glad to hear hear you're keeping the Z. I came close to buying an MT-10. After demoing one in Laconia this summer. Still may pull the trigger on that one. The only thing is the look of that bike is not my cup of tea. But she's a beast

BUT
I am leaning at this point to keep the 9 for another year  :305: :305: :305: :305: :305:
I get that you're burned out on the Z's 😂 but the z9 the best yet. No?
I was out on my Z today for about five hours. Starting temps were low fifties. The Conti's gripped well and my new suspension worked perfectly. I realized I wasn't even aware of the bike. I was flying down twisty country roads and I had no idea how. Maybe a magic carpet.
I've had more powerful bikes but the z9 is just right.
(Except for the brakes. The new pads have improved things but the grip "spacer" has exposed a sponginess in the lines that I'm not thrilled about. This winter I'll be installing braided lines).

Anyways, the mt10 is an interesting bike but I see Yamaha has made improvements to the 2020 R1 heads and injectors to improve fuel efficiency. Maybe this will also trickle down to the Empty 10. This allows them to comply with Euro 5 and still retain the bikes power.
The sound of that cross plane four can't be beat tho. 😍

That sound coupled with the quick shifter will have any man riding like a dang fool everywhere.
Rightfully so. 👍

Just my perspective .... BUT if a new 16 Gen4 Z was beside the 17 Z9 ... the Gen 4 would have gone home with me that day.

They have that fancy z1000 in Europe still. Which is nice.

Sure you can quieten them down with db killers but that would restrict flow and power output.
Big can is the way to go if you like a rich rather than obnoxious exhaust note AND a power increase.

Porkchop If you pick a can of similar dimensions to your ZRX you should achieve a similar outcome.

Here are some dB figures published by Delkavic in reference to silencer length with their Z900 headers.
225mm (9) long can = 105-107dB no baffle. 103-105dB with baffle
350mm (14) long can = 102-104dB no baffle. 100-102dB with baffle.
450mm (18) long can = 98-100dB no baffle. 96-98dB with baffle.

Size IS everything when it comes to noise suppression.

I did some googling. Decibels is not a linear scale and my research  :012: indicates that a 110db exhaust isnt 10% louder than a 100dB exhaust its TWICE as loud! Its probably more complicated than that and I hold my hands up if that not the full truth......but anyway its a s***t load more than 10%!  :005:

Cazzy,
That's exactly my thinking, the ZRX one is pretty much the same length as this Black Widow only its oval + a Micron and flows exhaust very well.
The 300mm is 11.81" long, not huge and nice sound.
I'm not that much of a hell raising guy anymore looking to draw cops attention, stay under the radar with some good tone + power and keep my $$$ for other things besides tickets.
Speeding, well that's kinda uncontrollable at times  :001: :038: :007:

Just got back from a 200 mile burn in perfect fall New England weather. I tried to take a couple pics but it was so bright they looked washed out.
