Criusing in Bangkok
on: August 05, 2017, 03:18:00 AM
Hi guys,

I'm a Belgian dude, living in Thailand since 2001, and proud owner of a black Z900 since December 2016.

Why this particular bike? Why a big bike in a hectic city like Bangkok?

First of all: I'm a Kawa lover.
I got my first Z750 (from my dad) in 1980 and I drove it until it fell apart.
When I came back from Germany at the end of the eighties, I got an opportunity to buy the Zephyr 1100 from a guy who apparently couldn't handle this bike.

... and then I made a mistake: I had to choose between my girlfriend and my bike!   :430:

After my marriage ended, my passion started to itch again, but I got married to a woman who was NOT opposed to a bike,
but work spoiled everything: for the last 10 years, I'm sitting more in a plane than in my car

Nowadays I start working on Sathorn at 6AM, coming from Pahon Yothin: no traffic, but no public traffic as well

Four years ago I couldn't hold it anymore   On my wish list: Kawasaki, naked, 4 cylinder... -> Z800

Bought it, added a nice sounding exhaust (IXIL X55), and cruising around ... until I saw the Z900 at the Bangkok Motor Show  :028:
I impulsively did a pre-order (thinking it would arrive somewhere mid March 2017, until I got a call from the dealer in Dec 2016.
Rushed over there and did a trade-in with my Z800, as simple as that  :018: !

Welcome to our forum! I wonder if you are the first to own a Z900 on here?
Tighten it 'til it strips then back it off half a turn.

I think I was one of the first to own a Z900 indeed.

it all came as a big surprise, because when I did a preorder during the Bangkok Motor Show in Oct 2016, I never expected it to be delivered THAT fast.
I was hoping that I would receive my bike somewhere in March 2017, giving me some time to mentally prepare my wife for the little surprise  :007:
But then I got the call on the 18th of Dec, asking whether I would come over to pick up the bike  :005:

I guess I was the second to drive around with it, worldwide ! :152:
