Weird and boring noice
on: May 27, 2020, 04:02:10 PM
Hey guys!

So I've had my Z900 for about a year now and i'm starting to get annoyed by this sound, no idea what it is and i have my 1000km service coming up. Has anyone else noticed this sound ?

I've got a video which i uploaded to dropbox.

Totally normal........most all of the inline fours have that sound.  If you wear earplugs like I do and then when you don't wear them......Yikes you hear every mechanical noise and then some.   My 2018 (bought new) Versys 1000 pretty much the same engine as the Z900 sounds the same and you over think it.  If a person has damage or you did some freaky MOD incorrectly you may have an issue, rarely an engine failure on modern bikes for the most part.

i have z900 4 days old and the same sound but the sound goes away or i cant hear it if i hold the clutch in. but i have another issue and that is the bike will lurch back and forth when holding steady throttle or like i am speeding up and slowing down a little bit constantly.

The clutch rumble that goes away when clutch is pulled in is perfectly normal.
I don't have a 2020 and the mapping is different to earlier models but doesn't sound right to me.
Does it occur in any particular rev range or any particular throttle opening?
What about rider mode, traction control setting? Does that make any difference,

Tighten it 'til it strips then back it off half a turn.
