Dealer Recommendation for Service in Denver?
on: June 10, 2020, 03:57:46 PM
I only have 150 miles on the bike so far -- haven't owned it for a week, yet -- but there will come a point where I will need to take it in for routine maintenance.

Believing that it's better to do the really critical tasks myself rather than let a ham-fisted truant work on my bike (and while you're at it, get off my lawn!) -- it will only go in for things that are clearly beyond my wrenching abilities. (Unfortunately, this includes tires.)

Can anyone in the Denver area recommend one of the local dealers, or maybe suggest one to be avoided? (Message me for the latter.)

I thought I'd found the answer back when I owned my Super Tenere -- a local independent shop. Until they didn't bother to route the ABS sensor wire properly while re-installing the front wheel. I was a couple of hundred miles into what was to be a multi-day trip when the brake disc chewed through the wire. No wire, no cruise control. No cruise control, no 600-mile days, not without some kind of throttle lock. Trip over.

But I digress. Thanks for any recommendations (or  warnings).

It's a Kawasaki so outside of oil changes (plugs, ect), you shouldn't need any outside help (do it yourself). But yea, tires...I take my wheels off and take to CycleGear. They charge $25/ea for mount and lifetime balance.

You have a Cyclegear in Lakewood.

TIP: Since RevZilla owns CycleGear, CG will honor the $25 fee even if you buy tire from ZLA. If you buy it anywhere else, they charge $50/ea.
