Taller seat height
on: June 28, 2020, 12:45:39 AM
Iíve been wanting to try to raise my stock seat for a while. Basically from the second I first rode it. Iím too cheap to buy the ergo taller seat and Iím not sure it would be as tall as I want anyway.
Since thereís rain forecasted for a few days I figured I would dig in. Iím waiting for some tire changing tools anyway.
I decided to attack it by raising the material under the stock seat foam.

I already had some expanding foam so I taped up the seat pan and started spraying. I guess it was old stuff because it didnít expand much at all. Oh well.

I eyeballed the height and let the surface dry before setting the stock foam on it and putting some pressure on it to form the expanding foam to the bottom of the stock seat foam. This worked pretty good.

Iím leaving some weight on it and letting it set for a day or two. After that Iíll use some more expanding foam or possibly upholstery foam to fill in the sides then cover with seat vinyl. In theory. Iíll update with results or failure.

Interested to see how it turns out. If for reason you don't like how it turns out, let me know. You can have my stock seat I took off if you need it.

Thanks, but it wonít hurt the seat if it doesnít work out. I can just go back to stock and try a different way.

Tighten it 'til it strips then back it off half a turn.

I am normally an open minded person but thats a big no no of a mod for me.  :192:

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this seat will be not only uncomfortable but the foam will flat out after first ride, and you will be back in square one. Dont put the cover back on, just sit on it and I am sure you will feel it go under your weight.

Buy some foam and put it as you did under the original one instead.

BTW Dr Pimple Popper is great!  :028:

Nope! Not watching that!
And as far as the seat, Iím not looking for a plush ride. Just raising the height. The stock seat doesnít bother me with the type/length of riding I do. Iíll let you know if it collapses though. First time I sat on it it felt good though. Put my knees where they should be.
