Tall or Ergo Seat
on: January 07, 2021, 07:46:30 AM
Hi,
I have a Z900 2020 model and love the bike. I'm 184 cm or 6 1 and think I would benefit from a high or the OEM Ergo seat. I ordered one from the local Kawasaki dealer but the one delivered is the same as I have installed (I bought the bike second hand so it is possible that the original owner changed to an ergo seat) and it just doesn't seem to be a high seat. Can anyone tell me how to identify the ergo seat from an original. There is some numbers printed on the back of the seat and maybe this could be one way? The local dealer have so far been very unhelpful.....

The previous models was selled with a low seat and you could buy an optionnal high seat (2 or 2,5 cm higher ..not really clear) ; but since 2020 all Z900 have the high seat + 2cm higher.
Perhaps because of that ...

Thanks for your responses. The part number on the box was as per the Kawasaki website but it is possible that the wrong seat been put in the box hence that I want to confirm the seat itself.

Cheers/Janne

Hi Janne,
here photos to compare with your seat.
The bigger one is the 2020 standart seat. Because Im 1.96 m Ill try to build with the smaller seat (used bought) a model 20 mm higher than the origin one.

The numbers on the bottom side is the same on both seats: 53066-0581  ACC-0134 ACC-0134
But there are round signs which indicate the construction date. In this area there shold be handmade marks to show the production time.

Hope the photos helps

Kurzschluss,

I know its a big ask but is it possible to measure around one of the seats where the rubber support on the bottom is? I could then compare this measurement with my original seat to understand if it is an ergo seat or not!?
Cheers

Tighten it 'til it strips then back it off half a turn.

I just got  :047: my TALL SEAT for my 2021 a couple of days ago...installation went well...BEFORE I got it I'd found some Buell front foot pegs on EBAY...with just a wee bit of grinding they fit perfectly and made my ol knees reeeleee happy. I ground the feelers off a bit...and have not touched on the twisties...but then again I'm an old fart and probably don't ride as fast as the rest of you. The TALL SEAT coupled with the Buell front pegs works for me...I'm 6'1"...PEACE  :305: RIDE SAFE...
