Got it all back together!
I called SprocketCenter.com and confirmed that the sprocket is thinner than the OEM.
They said Kawasaki doesn't always allow for as much adjustment as others.
They also said about allowing the gap to allow the chain to self align is normal, but I could shim it to have it tight like the OEM setup.
I decided to shim the difference and confirmed that the sprocket is to have flat side towards transmission (offset towards transmission).
So hopefully this helps someone if they come across the same issue.
Thanks everyone for your help.

To be honest, my recommendation for those looking to get into this is stick with a sprocket (company) that doesn't require a shim. Should be plug-n-play.

I completely agree. I have to admit I didn't look into brands when I purchased the kit. I did that after the fact 😒. I'm new to chains and sprockets. I put my trust into SprocketCenter.com to take the guess work out....Well that didn't work. Didn't know that the Superlite brand sprockets they use are not a favorite of anyone's. It looks OK, just hope the sprocket cracking issues they had are taking care of.
I do have to say aside from that issue everything else was smooth sailing. Fast shipping.
Next time I will do better research into what I'm buying.
