Bar end mirrors for 2020 Z900
on: October 14, 2021, 11:27:29 AM
So I got a nice pair of CNC bar ends for my zed and got rid of the stock mirrors.

But now, the place where the stock 14mm bolt for the mirror goes in is sitting empty and I am not sure if it is okay to leave it like that functionally.
On the other hand, it does look pretty bad aesthetically. A guy on youtube who did a similar mod on his zed covered it up with a few rubber plugs ( @0.18)

Can anyone provide me a link to these plugs or anything similar? If not a link, any sort of specification on what to search for will also be appreciated.

If any of you feel like there is a better way to cover it up, please do let me know.

Thanks in advance.

The mirror mount is built into the clamp for the controls. You can but the clamps from a ninja 650 and they dont have the mirror stem built in, so itll look a lot cleaner like it was designed like that rather than just covering them up. Failing that, rather than covering them, use them as a mounting point for stuff like a phone holder/heated grips controller etc so youre making use of them. Personally I think just plugging them looks sh#t.

I saw screws that fit to those holes, and even with different colors. Maybe something worth considering. It's aliexpress, but hey, not everything must be expensive to be good.

By the way, each time I see someone using high beam lights, my body wants to scream :182: The same applies to people using hazard lights when filtering..

I just swapped the clamps between sides. Doing that points the opening down and out of sight. They're not exactly the same width, but look fine that way to me.

I bought these off Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08RB4QYZ3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1.  After a few months they started to fade and are no longer black.  You can search for "motorcycle mirror plug" and find a bunch.

On my 2018, the threaded mirror hole is 10mm x 1.25  (M10 x 1.25). Both are right hand thread.

I went to my local automotive / hardware store and bought "Panel trim retainers", which are plastic plugs that just slide in the hole.
If you ever need to take them out, just lift them with a flat screwdriver.
