I Can't Get On Some Rider Sites I Belong To

Why is that? I belong to two other sites for bikes I own. One is 'Rider Forums' which lumps a bunch of Kawasaki's that I use for my zr7S.
When I try to get on I get a "something wrong so webpage has been reloaded" message. Then it says that there's been a problem with the server, or some such thing.

I'm using a 10 year old iPad with OS 10.1.1 (I think). Could that be the problem?
And lately some product sites I go to say they no longer support my browser and direct me to install Google Chrome but when I go there it says Chrome can't be installed on my iPad?

I noticed this happened when the look of the owners group page changed such as when this site changed its look. Any ideas?

It might be worth trying Firefox.  Not tried it on any Apple hardware, but it still works on older Windows and Linux machines that I have.

    Zed9,

Similar circumstance for me. What I discovered was troubling.

Sites sometimes change their mission. There's lots of reasons. They're not always revealed nor published. Out with the old and in with the new.

Try changing your handle and bio. Next try changing your address. You'll appear to be new blood and not be tossed-out like yesterdays garbage.

The clue is in your original post “10 year old iPad”. 3 years life expectancy tops in today’s disposable universe.

Tonysmate... I'll have to enlist the services of my nephew to get Firefox. I googled it and it seems plausible.

It's about speed... I can't even get on the website, same as commercial sites trying to sell you sonething. Besides, I believe I'm pretty well liked there, or at least not despised. Yet.  :038:

Pj69... I'm afraid that may be true. It's a version 2 iPad and it runs fine otherwise. It's just that I'm losing access to sites, sorta like watching the ship sailing away without me. Very sad.  :012:
My ipad only allows me to use an old version of YouTube. If I try using my original icon, it says they won't support my browser. My nephew is the one who found the older version. He didn't explain what he did. Kids never do.

Ya, I just checked riderforums and kawiforums. They both work fine. (iPhone 13 Pro) Good luck.

Thanks. I'll try getting on those sites the next time I meet with a friend with a modern iPhone. Then I'll know.
What if I reset my router or internet thingy?

I fixed it. I had to update my OS from 10.1.1 to 10.3.3
According to my nephew, Apple forces you to update the OS by limiting sites and features I access. I never update my OS because I don't like when they change things. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

It's likely not Apple, sites don't support ancient browsers and the app developers decide the minimum OS version their app works on. It's generally advisable, for security reasons, to update OS / apps when a new version becomes available. There are exceptions of course, like in ICT production systems updates/upgrades must be planned very carefully.

Right. (Whatever that means  :087:). According to my nephew, my ipad will only go as high as OS 10.3.3 Then he started laughing telling me the latest OS is in the 15 range.
    Planned obsolescence at its finest.
