    Alternative oil brands

I'm looking to see if anyone uses other brands of oil other than Kawasaki. Please specify if you use (dino, semi, or synth), the brand, and cost. I started to run dino Valvoline in my 400 because it's super cheap and Kawai is reaching $30 in most areas if you are not on the ball with deals.  I also tried full synth Valv in my 400 and she started to slip in high rpms.

I use motorcycle specific motor oil, usually Kawasaki or Suzuki, sometimes Honda oil. I tried Valvoline semi-synthetic once and the clutch acted strange.

Surprisingly smooth engine. their semi (10w/40) also was very smooth in my previous Z250.

other friends on a versys1000 & another Z900 also said its nice n smooth. The 3 of us have decided to stick to this now especially since the price is pretty affordable and they have a buy 2 free 1 promo going on.

normal price is RM55 aka USD12.50 per bottle.

I've used dino oil from Valvoline, Shell, and Castrol in the past, pretty much whatever motorcycle specific 10w40 was at the store.  I never really noticed a difference in feel or performance.

The full synthetic Valvoline was rated jaso ma2 and it made my bike slip I. High rpms. Based of the fact of real life application proving there's a little more to it than checking for ratings. There's more to this thread than just ratings but any help is better than no help lol

Might be worth double checking the clutch cable play. Lots here (myself included) have found the clutch cables tightening themselves, leading to slip. https://www.z900forum.com/index.php/topic,1194.0.html

For the record - I've used Motul 5100, Motul 3100 Gold, and Penrite MC4ST with no issue. Whatever's available at the local bike shop.
