Distinguished Gentelmans Ride

Did the Distinguished Gentlemans Ride here in Coffs Harbour today 5th June 2022. It was postponed for 2 weeks due to rain (for those that know it was supposed to be May 22nd).

There was probably 50 - 60 bikes  but here are the good bikes (Kawasaki) apart from 1 other Z1

I wasn't sure I was going to like the look of the cafe version, but seeing one out in the wild now I'd have to say they look pretty slick!

  Not quite sure why you mention the Cafe as there was none at the ride but OK. I saw the Cafe originally at the release of the Z900RS in Sydney in 2017 and quite like both variations.

Very nice. 👍 Not many suits though.
The Cafe version wasn’t available in 2017 when I bought my z900. I was against paying thousands more anyway for just a fairing on a bike with less horsepower.
But knowing me, I would have bought it, it’s cool.

Here in Australia the RS and Cafe were both released together at the end of 2017. Both bikes were approx $4,000 more than the Z900 (AUD) however for the vast amount of improvements that were made over the Z, IMO, it was easily worth the extra. It was FAR more than just a fairing. I could list it all but it is a lengthy list and I believe people should do their own research.

The RS and Cafe came with fully adjustable suspension but odds are they would need modification as well. For $650 (US) I had my full suspension fully modified for me and it’s perfect now.
The RS and Cafe have better brakes don’t they?
The main thing that confused me was why Kawasaki detuned the sweet running z900 engine for the RS and Cafe?

 I think if the RS had been in introduced along side our Sugomi styled Z I would probably have opted for the RS Cafe.
 Lots of complaints about snatchy fuelling and clunky gearboxes on the RS forum. More than a few owners have traded theirs because of one or both of those issues.
 Fuel mapping is different I guess to support the traction control, lower first gear and taller sixth mean bigger gaps between ratios. As zed9 suggests why didn't they stick "our" engine spec?

Exactamundo  . Perhaps it had something to do with adding riding modes, which are the latest craze, which the z900 clearly does not need.
