I did not. I'll re test but I have verified proper operation of the compression gauge. Oh and I was misunderstanding the manual about timing marks.

Good to hear! I assume our engines are interference style so tangled valves could be a possibility if the timing is significantly off.

Timing is good. Gotta look at head gasket next.

Surely you would have noticed some symptoms previously if it was the head gasket?
Oil in water/water in oil. Pressurised water system. Low comp on one or adjacent cylinders rather than all four. Poor starting rather than just refusing to start when previously it was fine.
I cant tell you whats wrong but this problem just has to be electrical.
Did you try a new battery?  :027:

I have to say I agree with Cazzy_R, unless the engine has been overheated, badly, damaging the head/gasket, then for all cylinders to be low would be unlucky indeed.

Although the compression is low if you had a decent spark within the cylinder and the fuel/air is mixing (a function of the port layout and the swirl generated) it would at least 'pop', it won't generate a huge amount of power but would make some sort of noise.

Check for blockage in the tank under the cap where the overflow drains.

Same. Checked voltages and connections everywhere. Battery is good. It starts while the fuel pump primes but dies as soon as the prime cycle stops. I'm hoping somebody finds an answer before I start throwing parts ($$$) at it.

Haven't had any time last coupla weeks to further diagnose my no start issue.  While I have it apart I'm gonna double check timing then try to start again
