The factory that makes Z900 is in Pluak Daeng  , Chonburi province Thailand  aboiut  15 miles from Pattaya  and 20 Miles from my house in BangSarey  , they make the Z900, Versys 1000, 650, Ninja 650 and ER6  and a few other bikes 300cc models , The Factory is in a huge cluster of industrial parks around towns of Pluak Daeng and Bowin ,  the industrial estates cover a vast area  10 miles long and 6 miles wide , Ducati, BMW , Triumph , Yamaha  also have big bike plants nearby and I have visited the Ducati and Triumph plants but Kawasaki does not do visits .Other Thailand big big plants are also run by Honda and there are also large plants for scooters of many brands and smallee capacity bikes up to 500cc . Rumour has it HD will also  build a plant here   they already have a kit assembly unit here to reduce punitive import duties but HDs are still ridiculous prices as are any models of other manufactures  from Japan and Europes models that are imported ,, except for chines otr Royal Enfield from India who have almost zero import duties here  as ASEAN members , Tirumph now make ALL their bikes in the 5 factories they have Thailand , only  special custom or race bikes and development is done in UK factory although engines a  sub assembles are made their and shipped to Thailand

Thailand is also a massive manufacturer of Auto parts with nippon Denso  having many factories here , It is the world Biggest producerof medium Pickup trucks  by Toyota, Isuzu, Fraud (ford)  Nissan, Mitsubishi ,Mazda  and more

My 2017 was made in Thailand but apart from that first year all UK market Gen 1 bikes were made in Japan.
I don't now where the current Gen 2 models are made.
