    Fuel gauge Z900 MY2020

I've noticed that the last 2 times I filled up my bike to the filler neck the gauge still shows 1 block left to go and the fuel is at the filler neck level. Has anyone encountered this issue. My bike is practically new with 9k kms on the clock. Does my gauge need calibration or is it a known fault? Orange warning light comes on and there is still 1 block showing and range apx 70kms. TIA for your help

I wouldn’t worry too much, although it’s a bit annoying if the top bar isn’t showing; but then the fuel gauge on the Z is not a precision instrument. In my experience, after I fill up the gauge on my Z will show all 6 bars for around 70km. Then over the next ~100km it’ll work through the remaining 5 bars. Then it the last remaining bar will remain solid for around 50km and when it starts flashing there’s around 50km range left. All the figures are average only and utterly dependent on how the bike’s ridden.

The following thread may give you an idea of other people’s experience with the gauge.

Thanks for the reply. It is annoying as just after filling up to the neck ......just after.......4km the top most block disappears....

I would not only find this annoying but call it a defect.  The top segment is there for a reason and when full should indicate.  Mine goes way longer than 4km before dropping down one segment.

I'm not 100% sure how the fuel sender works, but it seems as if the float is adjusted too far up, so it is overly sensitive on the top end (barely registering full when tank is full) and less sensitive on the bottom end (having one bar on when reading empty.

I can't recall (my bike just got uncovered from its winter nap) but I thought when the last bar appears the fuel icon lights.    When the last bar disappears the fuel icon flashes.

Mine (2020) can go for 80-100km before it drop one segment from full. The same as my previous 2010. and 2012. Z750
