    Trackers

    Hello

With my new Z900 on its way, Iíve been looking at security. Iíve got a disc lock, and an alarmed disc lock on the way.

But Iíve been looking at trackers. Iím very familiar with car security, but not bike.

Iíve seen monimoto tracker. It seems reasonably priced for purchase and subscription, anyone have anything to say about it?
And also, any alternatives I should check out?

    Thanks

A buddy put a Tile or similar brand tracker on his bike.  Not sure how I feel about using it when it relies on someone else with the app being in range.

Iíd check with insurance before committing to any security. Iíve found that the difference in price for my insurance is negligible without any security. I still have a chain and padlock and a disc lock that I use in the garage, and just the disc lock while Iím out as itís easy to carry, but if you declare that you have them and the bike gets stolen, a lot of insurers will try to check if you were using said security devices as a way of getting out of paying up.

As for the tracker, Iíd steer clear of monimoto as it uses 2G which is about to be phased out, as is 3G. If you do go for a tracker, have a look for one that works with 4/5G as those are staying.

I have both Tile and Apple Airtags. For me, Tile is OK for finding the keys at home but useless beyond close proximity. My wallet Tile once fell out at a central train station and the app couldn't find it. It popped up once about 2 months later and then disappeared after a few minutes. Airtag seems to track in the wild a bit better.

I have no issues with my MoniMoto 7 here in the UK. Even moving the bike from the garage down to the end of the drive is enough to alarm if the keyfob is at the back of the house.
The latest MoniMonto (MM7) uses 4G LTE. At the moment there seems to be no fixed date in UK/EU for LTE 4G being phased out.
It's just a shame my insurance company doesn't have the MoniMoto listed, but they have added it does have a tracker to the policy.

I have an Automile tracker that I've been very satisfied with.

Iíve been using Invoxia on my Z and my Surron. Definitely gives me a little better peace of mind.
